| Gameloft S.A. Chess & Backgammon Classics
On the flip side, Gameloft's tutorial doesn't do a great job of actually explaining backgammon to novices, so first-time players may never find themselves immersed enough to continue playing. Play modes aside, the most significant addition to both Chess Classics and Backgammon Classics is Gameloft's three-dimensional graphics engine, which offers a surprising amount of user viewing customization. First, each game presents its board from a standard forced 3-D perspective, providing you with the option to instead view it from a traditional overhead 2-D vantage point if you prefer. But if you stick to 3-D, you're actually able to rotate the board to your choice of angles on a static plane—it can't be tilted—and you'll see major differences depending on which of many themed skins you pick for the board, its pieces, and the background.
Review: Treo 700p (with Sprint or Verizon Wireless service)
On the business side, the device comes with VersaMail to connect to common Internet mail providers but will support POP and IMAP mail. For corporate mail, the device supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (Exchange 2003). Other third-party e-mail providers (including Good Technology) have announced support for the 700p. Once you get your e-mail, the Documents To Go application continues to support the viewing of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF file attachments, and users can edit Word and Excel documents on the device. As a personal entertainment device, the 700p includes a 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder and the Pocket Tunes digital audio player, which can play music from a Secure Digital card. The Sprint TV application was OK; watching live TV or other video clips was hit or miss (sometimes the system timed out trying to connect, or I got jittery video).

Alice is trying to telephone Bob. Alice telephones Bob, and hears someone answer the phone in Bob's voice. They say "I'm sorry Alice, I don't want to talk to you", and hang up. Except, it wasn't actually Bob who answered the phone, it was Comcast using a special device to impersonate Bob's voice. Comcast might describe this as "delaying" Alice and Bob's conversation, on the theory that perhaps they'll keep calling each other until some day when Comcast isn't using their special device. They may also invoke the theory that Alice will call other people who are a lot like Bob, but aren't on Comcast's network, so her conversation will only be delayed. If "delaying" traffic was Comcast's private intent, they were clearly making absurd and frequently incorrect assumptions about the protocols they were jamming.

Station Leaders Talk About WISC-TV
Some years ago, our vice president and general manager David Sanks was addressing a company meeting after months of work on the station's mission and vision statements. At the end of his presentation, Sanks summed up the most important goal, indeed the only goal that really mattered: "Keep Liz happy!" Sounds like something you'd say about a tyrant, but no. Elizabeth Murphy Burns -- Liz, to all -- is simply one of the most respected executives in broadcasting and one of the best-liked employers in any industry. "She's the perfect television station owner, in my opinion," says a national industry observer. "She's got her eye on the bottom line and her mind engaged on the whole panoply of business, and she lets her managers do their jobs." We couldn't agree more.
ESPN's New HD Production Shot in Remote Location, on Time and Under ...
PARSIPPANY, N.J., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Bronx is Burning", ESPN's new miniseries makes use of an innovative digital workflow design using Technicolor Creative Bridge's Mobile Digital Lab and Theatre (MDLT). This state of the art MDLT houses a Globalstor ExtremeStor DI workstation with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 SDI by PNY graphics board running ASSIMILATE's SCRATCH Data-Centric Workflow Solution. On location at Sonalysts Studios in Waterford Connecticut, the MDLT gave the production team access to a complete digital "pre-post" pipeline; allowing the production team to establish a new pre-post colorization model. As a result the HD production was much more efficient and the final online color correction was much more cost effective. "The Bronx is Burning" was shot on location throughout Connecticut, using the Thomson VIPER FilmStream(TM) digital camera.
